GEORGE TOWN, Feb 27 — From humble beginnings in a small food court stall in George Town six years ago, the chef and co-owner behind Smokepapa BBQ is now set to open a second eatery that will be fully pork-free.

SmokePapa BBQ offers authentic firewood-smoked meats, ranging from poultry to the ultimate in barbecue. Let’s dive into this wood smokehouse and see what they’ve got!
Instead of the Malaysian food that’s made Penang popular, SmokePapa BBQ is a Texan barbecue house with a slogan of, “Low and slow is what we do right here”.
It’s the one and only Texas Barbecue joint in George Town. Stallowner-chef, Tan Eik Hong aka Chef Hong, and his wife and co-chef, Jen Pham, both used to work at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, before they decided to return to Chef Hong’s hometown to ply his trade.

We were pleasantly surprised because the turkey was well-marinated and generously packed with stuffing. When we found out that the stall had relocated to a proper restaurant space over at Bishop Street in early September, we decided to pay them a visit.
